Effort Reporting System (ERS) Archiving and Phased Shutdown

As part of the ECC implementation project, activities are under way to archive ERS data as the system prepares for decommissioning.

Starting the week of August 24, 2026, a rolling archive and phased shutdown effort of ERS will begin with completion expected by mid-September. Past reporting periods are being archived sequentially as described in the ERS Archiving Schedule and Status table available on this webpage.

What This Means for PIs Certifying and Staff Supporting Certification

Please continue to certify all remaining open reports across all active periods making 2024-2025 a priority and then clear any remaining open past periods before each period is archived.

Access

You may continue to work on reports in ERS until the specific reporting period for that effort report begins to archive. Archiving saves a PDF of the report then removes the live report and all its supporting data from ERS. Contact Contracts and Grants Accounting if you need access to archived reports. 

The ERS system will be unavailable during each scheduled archiving activity, estimated at 2-4 hours.

Final Shutdown

The archiving process is scheduled to be fully completed by September 17, 2026.  ERS will shut down once all periods are archived.
