The Employee-Initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) program is an optional tool that locations and organizational units may choose to implement as a cost savings resource.
The ERIT Program provides an opportunity for eligible employees to voluntarily reduce their current appointment percentage and corresponding pay so that the university can achieve temporary salary savings.
Employees may, with the approval of their department, reduce their working hours and corresponding pay between 5 and 50 percent. ERIT participants, who must remain on pay status at least 50 percent of full-time each month while on ERIT, continue to accrue vacation and sick leave at their pre-ERIT accrual rate.
Eligible monthly employees may choose to participate effective July 1st. However, employees will have to quickly elect, and departments approve and update PPS, prior to the time reporting cutoff. Particularly, if the employee elects a 50% ERIT. For eligible biweekly paid employees, departments will have to implement at the beginning of a quadri-weekly cycle, therefore July 30th is the earliest implementation date.
